The Operation Harvest Sharing food bank was first registered as a charity in June 1985. We started as a project of area churches that saw a need to provide help to the increasing number of families in the area that were struggling to provide for the basic necessities. The first food bank was located in the Presbyterian Church.
We have been in many locations since then. In 2009 we, with the financial assistance of several bequests we have received over the years, were able to purchase our current location on Buell Street. In 2013 the food bank underwent a major renovation to upgrade the building and improve service to our clients. We also changed our operating name to Brockville and Area Food Bank so that we would be more easily recognized.
